“Bolshoi Bullshit” by Robert Gardner


Bolshoi Bullshit by Robert Gardner is one of five plays in Beginnings - the Los Angeles Playwrights Lab’s first production of original shorts. 

In Gardner’s Bolshoi Bullshit, a famous Ballet Master’s return from the hospital causes a crisis in his family and his Ballet company. Directed by Harold Apter, starring Tom Badal (above, center), Stephanie Silverman, Michael Fallon (above, right), Alma Grey (above, left) and Evan Silverman.

TOM BADAL (Boris) has appeared on stage, screen and film as an actor, writer and director.He was last seen on LA stage as the Moose in “Moose On The Loose” at Theater West. On LA stage he has appeared as Willy Loman , King Lear , Benjamin Franklin  and King Claudius to name a few.On La stage he has worked with Gena Rowlands,John Voight,John Cassavetes,Barbara Bain, Stephanie Powers ,Alex Hyde White,Richard Chamberlain,Tom Jane,Stefan Gierasch,and Christina Applegate among others.He is in the final stages of post on a short film and music video that he directed.He is pleased to be working with such a solid company of players,writers and directors.


STEPHANIE SILVERMAN (Carla) Stephanie Silverman (Carla, Bolshoi Bullshit) is a NYC writer/actor known for solo work at Dixon Place, Here, PS122, Westbank; culminating with At The Back of My Head, directed by Wynn Handman at American Place Theatre.  She’s appeared at numerous off-Broadway and regional theatres, including Playwrights Horizons, NY Theatre Workshop, Soho Rep, Ontological Hysteric, St. Clements, Long Wharf, and a tour of Saturday, Sunday, Monday with Dominic Chianese, Soprano’s Uncle Junior.  In LA she’s a Naked Angels regular, and she’s appeared at Circle X, EST, and with Fred Willard as a member of Mohos.  Film credits include the cult Tool Box Murders. TV credits include a stint on One Life to Live.  Recent work: webisodes Tickets R Us andLadies Rack.  She’s in rehearsal for 8 at FranKo’s, a Safehouse production at Electric Lodge.  She worked for Woody Allen four times, her role always cut, except for a commercial he clandestinely directed for an Italian supermarket.  Her line was “He does amazing things with meat.”




MICHAEL FALLON (Stanley) has performed in film, television, and stage in New York and Los Angeles. He has performed in varying roles in Indies and Off Broadway productions of  Cowboys, The Weed Show, Alcoholics Unanimous, Macbeth, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, Orpheus & Eurydice, Vanquisher, Presence, Family Reunion, Inquisitor, From Behind the Moon, Blood Wedding, The Rivals, Salome, My Werewolf, Apparitions, Tobacco Road, Oliver, Nutcracker, and more. Michael has studied with Carol Rosenfeld, Mira Rostova, Warren Robertson, Mervyn Nelson of Producers Circle.


ALMA GREY (Stella) has been performing and telling stories ever since she was a young girl growing up in Albania. After relocating to the US in her mid-teens she continued her studies and eventually returned to the stage and performed in several plays in NJ, Seattle and LA. Most recently Alma has been very busy working on a series of independent films. One of her latest projects was a passionate and intense endeavor directed by Tom Badal.


EVAN SILVERMAN (Paul) has been performing in film and theatre in New York and LA for over a decade. Most recently he can be seen in the upcoming film “the Prop is the Girl” as well as in the marching band in the film “Water for Elephants.” He is delighted to be a part of bringing this piece to the stage for the first time.

HAROLD APTER (Director) is an Emmy winning writer and producer whose credits include both daytime and prime time TV and features.  He teaches screen and television writing at USC School of Cinematic Arts and has recently written the screenplay for a new Brazilian feature film.

ROBERT GARDNER (Playwright) has written and directed a short, I COULD HEAR YOU ALL THE WAY DOWN THE HALL and two indie features, CLARENCE AND ANGEL and KING JAMES VERSION. He wrote the screenplay, CRIE DU COUER, which won Second Prize at the Venice and Berlin Film Festivals. He is the co-writer for the film, WEDDING PALACE opening theatrically, Spring 2012. Mr. Gardner also is the co-creator of the L.A. Playwrights Lab.
